5 TIPS FOR A HEALTHY 2016:

1. Sweat it out! Sweating is a great way to rid your body of toxins, while improving circulation and digestion. While we’re all about getting your heart pumping in your favorite workout class, this year we are especially excited about the HigherDose Infrared Sauna we just got in our office! Just a few minutes in the heat can leave you feeling more creative, more inspired and more focused (in addition to boosting your metabolism, easing muscle and joint pain and relieving stress). HOT!

2. Hydrate smarter. You already know that drinking water is really good for you (right?!)—it encourages optimal digestion, helps you assimilate nutrients, aids in cell regeneration, lets you reconnect to your body’s natural hunger point and helps your skin glow. And it’ll also help you flush out any remaining toxins. But instead of resolving to drink more water this year, resolve to eat your water instead! When you eat water-rich fresh produce, like cucumber and romaine lettuce, each water molecule is bound up within the structure of the veggie. This lets your body enjoy deep, sustained hydration even longer, making it a more efficient—and satisfying—way of getting your daily h2o quota.Think lettuce, cucumbers, beets, berries.

3. Eat more colors. If you want to be sure you’re reaping the full benefits of Mama Nature’s bounty, count the number of colors on your plate—and try to pack in as many as possible at each meal! The colors of different foods represent different compounds within them that serve various purposes in your body. When you eat the rainbow, you can be sure you’re getting the full spectrum of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients you need to thrive.

4. Be mindful at mealtime. Too many meals are eaten on the go or while sitting in front of a computer or TV. This year, we say, start showing your meals some well-deserved love! Take a moment to fully experience and enjoy this moment—after all, you’re nourishing your body and mind so it can carry you through your day. What could be more important than that? Admire the colors, aromas, textures and flavors of your food. Breathe deeply and chew slowly. Not only will you enjoy improved digestion when you eat without distraction, but you’ll also be more in touch with your body’s unique needs, and you’ll be better able to tell when you’ve had enough. And remember that the thoughts you have that accompany each bite of food you take are just as important as the food itself as they affect digestion. Be loving, and be grateful.

5. Set an intention—and be specific! Sakara means the manifestation of thoughts to things—what you think, you create! So this year, we’re getting down to the nitty-gritty on what we want to achieve and become. Your mind is so incredibly powerful. Set a strong, authentic, clear intention and really visualize your goals—clarity is where true transformation starts. Repeat after us: It’s going to be an amazing year.
