As we prepare to say peace out, 2015 we’re looking back on our favorite pop culture moments of the year.
Sit back and reminisce on some of the moments that made 2015 so great…
1. The Dress
Team #blueandblack or team #whiteandgold… which one were you?! Who could forget the craziness and confusion surrounding the magic dress in February of this year. Bet you didn’t even know a bunch of llamas escaped captivity in Arizona that same day.
2. “The Jinx”
True crime specials have taken the spotlight recently, but no other had the same effect as HBO’s “The Jinx” aka “The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst”. Back in February the miniseries coincided with the arrest of its subject Robert Durst leaving everyone at the edge of their seats.
3. Left Shark
Katy Perry put on a great performance at this year’s Super Bowl half time show, but lets be real… Left shark totally stole the show and our hearts. You can do it, Left Shark!
4. “Zoolander” Walk Off
We’ve been anticipating the sequel to “Zoolander”, pretty much since the first one came out. Thanks to Valentino for whetting our appetites back in March with a good old fashioned walk off. Watch the trailer realness here. BLUE STEEL is back people - need we say more? #LA-ME
5. “I am Cait”
And the bravest moment of 2015 came in April when Olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner revealed Caitlyn to the world. The media appearances that followed, the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” special, the Diane Sawyer “20/20″ interview, and finally her Vanity Fare cover, opened up the conversation about trans people in America.
6. Hotline Bling video
Drake’s Hotline Bling came out in July, but the real kicker came when the video debuted in October. Drake’s “unique” dance moves stole the internet that day.
7. Justin Bieber tears at the MTV VMAs
2015 was definitely redemption for the Biebs… With hits like Where R ü Now and Sorry the bad boy won back a spot in the hearts of Americans. The love was so overwhelming that he broke down in tears after his performance at the VMAs in August. Please note, we are NOT sorry we watched the Sorry music video 1,000 times!
8. Blood Moon
The US had a front row seat to the Blood Moon/Super Moon that occurred back in September. Unlike other eclipses the Blood Moon can be enjoyed without protect… see ya in another 18 years!
9. Pizza rat
Because rat + pizza + NYC subway = major lolz. Watch pure gold here.
10. New Emojis
Taco lovers rejoiced in October when Apple finally released new emojis… With the long awaited taco emoji came a slew of others, including a range of skin tones for all human emojis. We’re still waiting for the avocado though.
11. Adele, 25
Adele’s long awaited album, 25 debuted this November eliciting a hilarious response from mainstream media. There was the “SNL” Skit where her song Hello kept a family from bickering at the Thanksgiving table, the Jimmy Fallon Skit where Adele performed with The Roots using classroom instruments, and of course everyone favorite new past time “Adele and Chill”.
13. Saint Kardashian West
There was a lot of speculation this years as to what KimYe would name their baby son. Many people were pulling for Wild, but on December 5th little Saint West was welcomed into the world.
12. “Star Wars” fever
As of late December “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” has shattered basically every single box office record, not to mention all of the obsession surrounding the release. May the force be with you!
14. Steve Harvey botches “Miss Universe”
Closing out the year, we have Steve Harvey to thank for totally botching the “Miss Universe” reveal. Note this video is a bit cringeworthy!
